I've written a little article about the XA for the Film Photography Project. Click on the URL below if you'd like to read it.

  3. The Kiev 4a

Kiev churned out tons of Contax clones over the decades since the end of WWII and I am fortunate to have one. Mine's a Kiev 4a, which is a bare bones, 35mm rangefinder: all mechanical and no meter.

It came with nice glass out in front: a 50mm, f2 Jupiter 8 lens capable of sharp images.

I've written a brief overview of the Kiev 4a. You can find it at the link below if you're ...

This is the camera that found me the Real Photographers Forum!

That is to say, I was preparing a blog article for the Film Photography Project website, and while searching the web for some information about the Hawkeye Flash I came upon Chris Dodkin's article on RPF. (By the way, Chris has posted some excellent images of the Hawkeye in his article!)

  5. The Vivitar PN2011--Cheap, Plastic and Versatile

by on 21-08-11 at 06:00 PM
The Vivitar PN2011 is a 35mm point & shoot that falls into the "toy camera" category. I got my first compliments of the Film Photography Podcast. (http://filmphotographyproject.com/podcast). It was one of their monthly "giveaways."

The PN2011's primary feature is it's "panorama" mode. Really this is just a mask that covers a portion of the top and the bottom of the frame, thus giving the illusion of a panorama image. It's just a gimmick.
