    I'm like a kid ... I want a Fuji 645 now!

I've had a few bits on eBay the last week ... Managed to raise a couple hundred notes
    I'm bidding on Carlos's GS645S brianblessedisagod's photostream - a man on a mission
Hopefully I'll win... The thing is, now I have the money, it's legitimately raised from the sale of superfluous kit so Hannah doesn't mind me spending it ... It feels like its burning a hole in my brain, never mind pocket!
Carlos is set on not selling it BIN, that's fine, I'm not going to push (this is not me trying to push you into a bin Carlos... just expressing my stupefying materialistic traits) ... But I want it! I want it now!! I really am like a child sometimes ...
Does anyone else get like this with camera kit or am I just a bit pathetic?
Can someone give me a lecture on how the kit isn't important etc, because my usual views on the subject seem to be eluding me!
It is a sexy lookin bit of kit though... And I did nearly buy one instead of the blad... And the blad is in camera hospital at the moment ... And to top it of, my ziess nettar is seems to have jammed it's self, and my Bessa I is half way through a film and, despite remembering the photos I have taken with it I can't remember what the film is so I dont know what speed to shoot the rest of the film at... I'm MF blocked!! Maybe I should get out the holga and stop being such a whiny tit!
    Mock away...I need it!

Can't help you I'm afraid Hamish. I can be the same. Hopelessly impatient with that sort of thing. Last night I looked again at the flashgun that goes with a Speed Graphic that was being advertised on eBay. Buy now or offers. Five offers with an hour to go. And I don't really need the flash gun. And won't use it more than one or twice I suspect. So I did the only thing sensible thing... Hit. 'buy it now' and said "So long suckers" to all those sensible people who had been leaving offers!! It's on it's way by courier. And the nice man who was selling it (no doubt amazed that some idiot was actually prepared to pay what he was asking) is even throwing in a cable for the illuminated spot thingy for the range finder (which I'll also almost certainly not use either but would like to see what it does!).

So, do the sensible thing. Sit up all night staring at the bidding and worrying whether you should up that bid by just a tad more. 'Cos you want. No, you NEED it. NOW, NOW, NOW!!

Did that help at all Hamish?!!

Yes, most certainly! Im not alone!
Speaking of flash guns ... I nearly kicked somthing earlier when I missed ANOTHER Nikon sb20 ... This one for £10.50 ... The cheapest missed so far!
I broke one a while ago and have missed it since ...
My current plan is to get a sync cable and do some Bruce Gilden style shooting on my mates with my Epson, 21mm cv and off camera flash... Should be fun! I'm going to work up to doing the same with one of these Fuji's!

Speed graphic flash eh? Does it use bulbs?? Can you get them??

Sound good Hamish. Less likely to get thumped with friends too!!

It does and you can. Either eBay for old stock or there are a few firms still making them. Cavers would be lost without them!!

Well, say that ... Here's a bit of justification for you ... All be it thin
The x100 has made me basically stop shooting portrait... The last wedding I did there was 3 portrait photos out of and 250 photos ... I never used to have a problem with portrait oriented photography
This camera is natively portrait instead of the usual landscape, it's not far of 35mm (like the x100) although is 6x4.5 so is slighty longer on the short edge ... It is also apparently bordering on uncomfortable to shoot landscape!
I've always found that I get into ruts with photography ... I used to think it was me finding my "style", maybe it is, but it's best not to let my self get bagged down ... Finding a way to stop getting bogged down by forcing me to look at what I'm doin differently gets me out of ruts ... This camera should do that and thus, improve my photography!
Of course I could just go out with it in mind to only shoot portrait for a day ... But that wouldn't involve buying a new camera and so wouldn't be as much fun and so I probably wouldn't do it ...

... ... If you believe that claptrap then I've been giving you to much credit! Just don't tell photographer Hamish, I've got him well suckered!
