It's the remains of an Hydrangea flower / seed head by the look of it. But what is really is, is gorgeous. A close-up of a single floret would be interesting as well - higher resolution scan and then zoomed in?

A certain spouse thinks it might be lowly cow parsley...
My first thought was something like that, but I decided that the 'skeletons' of the 'petals' were too big. But of you ain't got an Hydrangea in the garden then...
Actually, thinking about it think I have a dried Hydrangea head in the studio - I'll have a closer look at tomorrow.
