My First Canon... and photos taken with it!

You might have noticed me banging on about my new 30d with scratched sensor here http://www.realphotographersforum.com/content/586-how-identify-dusty-scratched-imaging-sensor-lens.html

Well since its quite a monumental thing for me to now be on both sides of the fence I thought i would celebrate that fact by taking a few shots of it and with it

here it is with my new 50mm (thanks again Peter)... look how dark and foreboding it looks

and here it is with the reason I wanted a canon attached to the front of it ... an m42 lens ...

see, you cant fit m42 lenses on nikons and retain infinity focusing ... the flange back distance is too long!

This was taken with the above combo ... Asahi 1.8 lens

    others here http://www.realphotographersforum.co...-efke-100.html

    as was this

    and these

the Following ones were taken with the canon 50mm 1.8 lens

    Nikon D3, Nikon F3, Hasselblad 500c/m, Fuji GS645s, Fuji X100, Epson R-d1s, Voigtlander R2a and an iPhone 4s

Nice foties, Hamish. Is that actually screw mount lens where an EF mount is normally required?

    dunno mate ...
Impossible, and i hasten to add probably pointless speculating about ...
this fits between my 2 Nikons anyway ...
Probably better than my nikon d50 and definitely not as good as my d3
As much as I do fly the Nikon flag, until you get to bang up to date, low light capability from ultra high end models I dont think it really makes much odd which brand people go for ...
Canon have more lenses, Nikon are better for low light and feel more solid in the hand ... thats sort of the way I see it

Slippery slope Hamish, next you'll shooting a 5D2!

SWMBO has a 30D - although she doesn't have the scratched sensor modification

Can't really complain for the money you paid - I bet a round of beers costs more than that these day?

    Congratulations!

I also have a 30D (without the sensor modification ). Apart from the crop factor and weaker high ISO performance, it's actually a more responsive (much faster burst mode) and lighter camera than the 5D2.

The 50 f1.8 is a nice performing lens for what it is, despite its physical limitations.

Priya shoots Nikon, so I understand and appreciate the appeal to be able to examine the gears from "the other" side closely. Enjoy .
