    One of the few great female artists of the Renaissance era, Artemisia Gentileschi, left us her "Allegory of Painting" - though not in b&w...

    So I thought I'd join in the fun when my wife, Susan, was taking it all in. My "Allegory of Photography":

    Not seen that painting before, wonderful study in concentration.

    An intersting photo, I am struck by the contrast between the lady displaying her figure being viewed by your good lady hiding hers behind a coat and mask.

    Good observation, Dave. Maybe that's the allegory? The artist is exposed, while the viewer is hidden.

    Maybe, but by that standard a peep show is allegorical. :D

    Certainly an interesting artwork and I too have never come across it. Somehow I think the mask almost intensifies the sense of observation. A fabulous image.
