The last time I was on an airplane was March 12 of 2020. My itinerary was Boston to Newark, then connecting in Newark for a cross-country flight to Southern California. This photo is upon take-off from Boston. I imagine the vapor trail in the upper left reveals an aircraft that is Europe-bound. Olympus XA2 with Arista EDU 400 film processed in Rodinal.
A fine shot. The grainy look works well, combined with the very low sun it looks more like a meteor than a vapour trail.
Love the BIG sky, and also the light just beginning to pick out some buildings. The curvature of the Earth is observable too.
Hell,... maybe it was a meteor! Anyway, thanks Dave. Thanks Rob. I'll be interested to hear what those terrible terrible people the Horizon Police have to say about it.
Brilliant, and I love the smattering of other celestial bodies too (and they are clearly such and not spots on the film I'm sure ). After all these years I still rarely get the idea of pointing a camera out of the window of a plane.
